Oliver M. Habel was born on September 8, 1956 in Germany.

Oliver M. Habel studied law at the Universities of Bochum, Hannover, Strasbourg and Munich and passed his two state examinations at Ludwig Maximilians University Munich respectively at the state of Bavaria in 1982 and 1985. He successfully completed his thesis about the legal protection of computer software and the influence of IP in software for valid standard licensing conditions under German law back in 1987.

Oliver M. Habel started his professional career as an in-house counsel with a manufacturer of medical equipment, Dornier Medizintechnik GmbH, partly working in the US with Dornier Medical Systems, In., Atlanta.

Since 1990 Oliver M. Habel works as an attorney at law, at first in his own law firm Schlawien, Habel, Straessner, Munich, then from 1999 in the law firm Wessing, and since 2003 in his own law firm tecLEGAL Habel Rechtsanwälte, located in Munich, Germany. His area of practice is focused  on commercial law with a cutting edge to software licensing. Negotiating and drafting of contracts as well as litigation is part of his daily work.

Oliver M. Habel’s clients are mainly operating in the  information technology, internet, technology producing companies, e. g. machines for manufacturing, engineering, intralogistics, medical equipment sector.

Oliver M. Habel is highly experienced in cross-border legal relations for more than 30 years already. He has substantial experience especially in negotiation international deals.

Oliver M. Habel is fluent in German and English.
