Professor of Law, King's College London

Roger Brownsword has professorial appointments in the Dickson Poon School of Law at King's College London(where he was the founding director of TELOS, a research centre that focuses on technology, ethics, law and society) and in the Department of Law at Bournemouth University. He is an Honorary Professor at the University of Sheffield and has been a visiting Professor at Singapore Management University. 

Professor Brownsword has published extensively on the regulation of emerging technologies; and, currently, he is co-editing the Oxford Handbook on Law, Regulation and Technology. He is also the founding general editor of the leading European journal Law, Innovation and Technology. He has acted as a specialist adviser to parliamentary committees dealing with stem cells and hybrid embryos; from 2004-2010, he was a member of the Nuffield Council on Bioethics; from 2011-2015, he served as Chair of the Ethics and Governance Council of UK Biobank; and currently he is a member of the Royal Society Working Party on Machine Learning.
